Whenever we wake up in the morning, we think of how we are going to spend our day today? Whether we would be able to complete our work or not? Some people make a do to list before going to bed the previous night or sometimes they make the list next morning. They mark the things done as soon as they start their day. They must add one thing in their list and that’s :‘Laughter’
To make people aware about the benefits of laughter, Shri R.D. Baheti has done analytical research on laughter. To add laughter in the category of yoga, he has done ample research on the scientific aspects of laughter.
“Hasya Samrat Shri. R.D. Baheti” was born on 24th October,1936 in Golakabass village, Rajgarh town of Alwar district. He was born in the rural area of Rajasthan and thus, it is not erroneous to say that he is a self made personality. At the age of 19, he started his journey as a businessman of petroleum product which eventually lead him to success.
On June 6, 1954, he got married to Smt. Kanta devi,who supported his all decisions during the whole struggle of life and they are blessed with 3 sons and 1 daughter.
Shri. Baheti always wanted to do something concrete for the society, and thus, in 1964 with the help of few of his friends, he established ‘Lions club’ in Jaipur. This was the first Lions Club in Jaipur. During his epoch, he was on different prestigious positions such as President, Zone Chairperson etc.
He has also represented Lions Club at various international seminars in different countries such as USA, England, France, Russia etc. Under his guidance, Lions Club Jaipur raised many social issues like education ( opening schools in slum areas), health issues (dispensaries), social ( opening peep in summers) etc.
Being an enthusiast of yoga and sports, he took the proper yoga training from Shivanand Asaram, Rishikesh in 1972 and earned the designation of ‘Yogaacharya’. In 1974, he established Rajasthan Swasth Yog Parishad. In 1988, he organised ‘Akhil Bhartiye Yog Sammellan’. People from all over the world participated in this event, and Shri Shiv Charan Mathur, former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, approved 2000 yards of land for establishing Rajasthan Swasth Yog Parishad. Due to his keen interest in sports, he became president of Shri Ram Sports Club and organized All India Sports Meet for three days at Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur where the sports people from all over the country participated. Being a visionary and multi talented personality, he worked not only in the field of yoga, sports but also taken a step to remove social biases and taboos of the society thus, he organised first communal marriage on 19th June,1975. He made his own family members partake so that others can be encouraged. This was a first attempt in the whole northern India where families from all over India participated. This initiative was highly appreciated.
In 1993, being the founder & president of Maheshwari Sabha, he organised 29 marriages in the community. He has also worked in the field of health and care as he started 50 bedded hospital during his tenure of being the president of Dharmarth Seva Sansthan, Banipark.
Shri Baheti understood the importance of laughter 48 years ago. He established the world’s first laughing club ‘Hasyam’ on 29th October, 1970 in Jaipur which is still making people laugh and helping them out in various aspects of life.
Some of the other social activities in which Baheti ji was involved:
- In 1980, he became the president of Jungleshwar Mahadev Seva Samiti
- In 1978, he fought for Vidhyan Sabha election from Thanagaji
- In 1989, he became the president of Maheshwari Samaj and released land and building for Maheshwari Public School, Jawahar Nagar, Jaipur.
- In 1999, he became National Vice President of Akhil Bharatvarshiyae Maheshwari Mahasabha.
Awards & Recognitions :
Given the recognition as ‘Hasya-Samrat’ in Mumbai
- In 1990, he was awarded by Shri Satyanarayan Reddy, Hon’ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh for his remarkable work in the field of Yoga.
- Awarded by Shri Duru Miya, Health Minister of Rajasthan (2010) and Mayor Mrs. Jyoti Khandelwal for his incerbile works in the field of laughter yoga
- Appreciation award given by Lion’s Club International
- Appreciation award given by Shri Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister, Delhi
Apart from above mentioned fields, Mr. Baheti is also a part of many organizations such as Jaipur club, Shri Jaju Trust, Aditya Vikram Birla Trust, Shri Maheshwari Samaj, Badrikashram Samiti, R.D. Baheti Charitable Trust, RDB Group, Vaish Mahasamelan, Kolae Kae Hanuman Ji Mandir, Gulab Udhan Vikas Samiti, Maheshwari Seva Sadan ( Pushkar) and Life time member of Jaipur Club. His efforts for the development of society is commendable.
